PEGCC Strengthens Government Affairs Team With New Hire

Washington, D.C. – The Private Equity Growth Capital Council announced today that Langston C. Emerson has joined the organization as Vice President of Government Affairs. Emerson brings more than 10 years of Capitol Hill and advocacy experience to the PEGCC.
“Educating policymakers about the private equity business model is one of our most important functions at the PEGCC,” said Steve Judge, PEGCC President and CEO. “Langston’s experience advancing sound public policy will be put to excellent use on behalf of the private equity and growth capital industry. His legislative and regulatory know-how further strengthens our highly skilled team of public affairs, policy and research professionals.”
Most recently, Emerson was the Senior Director of Federal Government Relations for TIAA-CREF, where he was responsible for the financial services legislative and regulatory practice in Washington, DC. On Capitol Hill, Emerson worked as a senior aide to Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA-7) for financial services policy and as an aide to Former Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick for banking, tax and economic issues.
Emerson hails from Detroit, Michigan. He graduated magna cum laude from Howard University with a bachelor’s degree in legal communications and earned his law degree from George Washington University Law School. Emerson currently serves as the Vice Chair of Pink Isn’t Always Pretty, a non-profit focused on breast cancer education and awareness. He has also served as a board member and advisor to public charter schools in Washington, DC.
