AIC Welcomes Dillon Iwu to Team as Director of Government Affairs

Washington, D.C. – Today, the American Investment Council (AIC) announced the addition of Dillon Iwu to its staff as the new Director of Government Affairs. Dillon will be based in Los Angeles, California and will specifically focus on the association’s state advocacy efforts, building stronger relationships with California state legislators, and federal advocacy.

We are thrilled to welcome Dillon to our robust and growing AIC team,” said AIC President and CEO Drew Maloney. “Dillon joins an experienced government affairs department that is fully prepared to educate lawmakers on both sides of the aisle about private equity’s positive impact building better businesses, supporting jobs and strengthening pensions for American workers in all 50 states.

Prior to joining the AIC, Dillon worked for five years as a Senior Field Representative for Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-CA), who also serves as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. In this role, he drafted and tracked legislation that expanded opportunities for equity investment in low-income communities. Congresswoman Bass praised his work ethic in a statement:

Dillon came to my DC office as a skilled organizer, interested in using the legislative process to improve trade and investment, and increase opportunities for working men and women. After his stint in DC, he was asked to join my District office, where he used his talents to connect with the community and ensure access to jobs and resources. His willingness to step in as a team player and take on tasks when called upon is revered and will take him far. Working with Dillon has been an absolute pleasure and I wish him the best in his new role.”

Dillon also has extensive grassroots political experience working as an organizer for the Services Employees International Union (SEIU) and as a Senior Field Director for both Vote Atlantic City Proud and Stand Up & Vote Louisiana.

Dillon also serves as a board member for the Los Angeles Venture Associates updating the organization on state and federal legislation that would impact the venture capital and private equity ecosystem in California.

Dillon received his B.A. in Political Science from Towson University in 2013 and his M.P.A. from Wilmington University in 2016.
