New Website Highlights How Private Equity Helps Diversify Pensions & Strengthens Retirement for Millions of Public Servants
Today, the American Investment Council launched a new website highlighting private equity’s key role in strengthening the retirements of millions of public workers across America. As part of a diversified investment portfolio, private equity is consistently the highest returning asset class for public pensions, delivering median annualized returns of 15 percent over a 10-year period. More than 34 million American public servants depend on private equity, while 89 percent of public pension funds invest in private equity.
“Private equity helps pensions across America diversify their investment and delivers the strongest returns of any asset class. I’m proud of our industry’s critical role guaranteeing hard-earned retirements for millions of dedicated public servants.” said Drew Maloney, President and CEO of the American Investment Council.
The new website features:
- Testimonials from public pension fund officials about why they partner with private equity
- Statements from members of Congress and elected officials praising private equity investments
- Studies from economists and experts on why private equity is critical for diversified portfolios
- Recent pension fund returns showing how private equity outperforms other asset classes
