AIC Hosts Punchbowl News Event in Charlotte with Senator Thom Tillis

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the American Investment Council released a new video to preview our upcoming Punchbowl News event in Charlotte, NC on October 16.

The AIC team is going back out on the road. This month, we’re going to Charlotte, North Carolina to talk to Senator Thom Tillis about private equity in North Carolina,” said AIC President and CEO Drew Maloney.

During the event, Punchbowl News founder and CEO Anna Palmer will interview Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), member of the Senate Finance; Veterans’ Affairs; Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; and Judiciary Committees. They will discuss the significant role private equity plays in North Carolina by driving innovation and supporting small businesses, as well as address other news of the day.

The conversation will be followed by a fireside chat with American Investment Council CEO Drew Maloney and Dr. Robert L. Mittl Jr., a neuroradiologist at Charlotte Radiology, who will discuss how private equity powers medical innovation that improves lives.

Private equity’s footprint in North Carolina helps local businesses grow, saves local jobs, and boosts the retirement savings of Americans. There are nearly 600 private equity-backed companies in North Carolina and more than 375,000 employees employed by private equity-backed companies. In 2022, private equity infused $28 billion in capital across the Tar Heel state.

North Carolina is no exception—private equity delivers for American workers and small businesses across the country. In 2022, 85 percent of all private equity investments went to support small businesses with fewer than 500 employees.
