AIC Welcomes Lee Slater, New Senior Vice President of Government Affairs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the American Investment Council announced Lee Slater as the organization’s new Senior Vice President of Government Affairs.
Drew Maloney, President and CEO of the American Investment Council, issued the following statement about hiring Slater:
“We are pleased to welcome Lee to the AIC team at this critical inflection point in our nation’s capital.
As we prepare for a new Congress and administration, Lee’s deep expertise will be invaluable as we
educate bipartisan policymakers on how the private equity and private credit industry strengthens
small businesses, supports job creation, and fuels American innovation.

Slater joins the AIC from the White House, where he served as Deputy Assistant to President Biden and Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs. In this role, he led congressional engagement strategies and served as a primary administration negotiator with House and Senate leadership. Previously, Slater was a Special Assistant to the President and House Legislative Liaison, serving as the primary liaison to more than 70 bipartisan members of Congress on key committees, including Ways and Means, and directed engagement with committees of jurisdiction in the House of Representatives on domestic and international economic issues. Slater also served as House Legislative Liaison on the Biden-Harris Presidential Transition team.
Prior to his White House service, Slater worked in the House of Representatives for more than a decade. He held roles including Director of Outreach and Member Services for the House Committee on Ways and Means under the leadership of then Chair Richard Neal (D-MA) and Chief of Staff to Congressman John Larson (D-CT). Prior to his work on Capitol Hill, Slater served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve, volunteering for multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq and receiving numerous awards and decorations for his military service.
