AIC Welcomes New Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Will Dunham
Washington, D.C. – Today, the American Investment Council announced Will Dunham as the organization’s new Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. In this role, Dunham will lead the AIC’s legislative advocacy efforts at the state and federal level across a range of policy issues that impact the industry. Dunham replaces Brad Bailey, who is leaving the AIC team for a new opportunity.
Drew Maloney, President and CEO, released the following statement regarding the personnel changes:
“We are thrilled to welcome Will to our accomplished AIC team as we continue to educate policymakers about the essential role our industry plays in fueling American innovation, creating jobs, and supporting small businesses. Will has extensive experience working for Congressional leaders on critical issues impacting our industry– including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. Will’s policy knowledge and advocacy expertise will benefit AIC members, and our team as policymakers act on consequential legislation next year.”
“During his tenure at the AIC, Brad has built a tremendous record of accomplishment on behalf of the private investment industry. He has successfully led our government affairs team through several high-profile legislative battles and helped protect the industry’s business model. We are grateful for his work and excited about his next opportunity.”
Dunham comes to AIC from Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, a top law and advocacy firm. He previously served as the policy director for former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), advising Congressional leaders on a broad range of policy issues and serving as the top liaison with House committees, the Senate and Executive Branch agencies under both Republican and Democratic administrations. In that role, he was the top House Republican staff member in bipartisan, bicameral negotiations between the House and Senate. Before joining McCarthy’s team, Dunham served as the executive director to the Republican Study Committee under now-House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA).
Bailey led AIC’s federal and state advocacy legislative efforts as the senior vice president of government affairs. During his tenure, Bailey was responsible for the growth and expansion of the organization’s lobbying functions and the association’s successful lobbying efforts on the Inflation Reduction Act. He joined AIC from the U.S. Department of Treasury, where he served as the acting Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs and the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Tax Legislative Affairs. In those roles, he was deeply involved in the implementation and enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Bailey also served as the economic policy advisor to former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and former Representative Pat Tiberi (R-Ohio), a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee.
