With the Democratic Party holding its second 2020 primary debate this week in Detroit, our new video highlights how private equity supports a stronger Michigan economy.
- Investment: Private equity invested more than $17 billion in Michigan-based businesses in 2018 alone.
- Jobs: Private equity-backed Michigan businesses employ 127,000 workers.
- Businesses: Private equity investments supported 158 local businesses based in Michigan from 2012-17.
- Retirement: 568,805 Michiganders have a private equity-backed pension. That’s 1 in 13 adults in the Wolverine state. In fact, the State of Michigan Retirement System has the 9th largest private equity investment of any public pension fund in the country
