The State of Private Equity: Investing in Over 5,200 Small Businesses Across America in 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In advance of President Biden’s State of the Union Address, the American Investment Council released a new report that shows how private equity invested over $1 trillion in communities across America last year.
Released today, the 2021 Trends Report contains new information on the state of private equity and the industry’s contributions to the American economy. The report found that private equity has consistently invested in businesses of all sizes across the country. Despite rippling challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, private equity invested in 5,205 small businesses in 2021, representing 74% of total investments. 97% of deals were under $500 million. These investments are strengthening the economy, growing businesses and improving the lives of millions of Americans.
