More Than 1 out of 3 Union Station Businesses Backed by Private Equity
Today, the American Investment Council released a new video highlighting private equity investment at one of Washington, D.C.’s most recognizable landmarks. As of 2022, more than one-third of the businesses operating at Union Station have received private equity funding.
“Private equity invests in every community in America”, said Pam Hendrickson, Chair of the American Investment Council. “Just take a walk to Union Station, for example, where a third of the companies are private equity-backed.”
“I am optimistic about the future of private equity because we invested nearly a trillion dollars this year”, said Drew Maloney, President and CEO of the AIC. “And 80% of those dollars went to small businesses and that’s employing 11 million people across America.”
From well-known brands like Ann Taylor and Blue Mercury to popular Senate lunch spots like Chopt and Au Bon Pain, private equity investment can be felt in nearly every corridor of the iconic Union Station. These companies have all partnered with private equity at various points over the past few years to grow their businesses and better meet the needs of their customers.
Union Station serves as a wonderful example of how Americans are surrounded by private equity each and every day, whether they realize it or not.
